If you want the cabinet to be more durable, you need to understand these points!
In the past few days, the weather has returned, ushering in the annual “return to the south”, and the tiled walls, glass doors and windows are all covered with water droplets.
It also reminds me of when I was renting a few years ago: the wet weather corroded the cabinet doors, and then the doors fell off!
So today we will also talk about the customization of cabinets, and the focus is also on the perspective of durability!
1 Which cabinet board is good?
Since I have seen the appearance of inferior cabinets after they are damp, I am most concerned about the panels. Let’s talk about several common panels:
①Particle board: not recommended
The one I’ve suffered in renting a house before is the particle board cabinets. This kind of board will be as brittle as a piece of paper when it gets wet. The door is easy to fall off, and even the cabinet body may collapse. Therefore, when customizing the cabinet, I personally highly recommend against using particle board or MDF cabinets.
②Stone: the most stable
Stone is not afraid of moisture, and it is no problem to directly rinse and soak with water. Therefore, using stone as the body of the cabinet can be regarded as an extremely stable material. My cabinets are also made of stone, and the effect is indeed worthy of praise!
③Multilayer board: cost-effective
In terms of moisture-proof effect, multi-layer boards are relatively moisture-resistant, and the strength and stability of the boards themselves are also good. Therefore, using multi-layer boards as cabinets is a relatively reliable choice, and multi-layer boards The cost is also a relatively cost-effective one.
2 Precautions for kitchen countertops
①Mesa material: quartz stone or slate
The stone materials of manufacturers in home decoration include: marble, slate, and quartz. For the countertops of the console, I personally recommend using slate or quartz, because marble is relatively brittle and easily penetrates impurities such as soy sauce, so Generally, marble will not be used as a countertop for a kitchen countertop.
②Reinforcement treatment
According to the conventional moving line design, the kitchen console can be divided into “vegetable washing area, vegetable cutting area, and cooking area”, and the vegetable cutting area is a relatively special countertop position. It is recommended to make a special vegetable cutting area during installation. Reinforcement treatment, such as thickening of the countertop, reinforcement of the tripod, etc., so that the console will not be cut off when the bones are chopped vigorously.
③Water retaining strip
Generally, the countertops of the consoles are on the same plane, and due to the operation of washing vegetables and dishes, the kitchen consoles are easy to get wet. Likely to flow out.
Therefore, the edge of the countertop of the kitchen console is generally used as a water barrier, so as to avoid splashing water on the ground or on the cabinet door.
④High and low platform
The degree of bending is different in the vegetable cutting area, the vegetable washing area and the cooking area, so the kitchen console is designed with a high and low table.
Generally, the countertop in the sink area is made higher (the sink is installed under the countertop), and the countertop in the cooking area is made shorter (the stove is installed on the countertop), so that you don’t need to bend over and feel uncomfortable when cooking.
Regarding the customization of kitchen cabinets, if you want to be durable, the points I introduced above are worth learning from. If you have any experience or suggestions in kitchen cabinets, you can also share them in the comment area!
